This example shows how to connect to a remote database using mysqli real_connect and SSL. In addition to the four parameters for the hostname, username, password, and database name, this example includes three optional parameters for specifying the SSL key, SSL certificate, and SSL CA. The mysqli_options function is used to set these values. Finally, the MYSQLI_CLIENT_SSL flag is passed to mysqli_real_connect to enable SSL. The mysqli real_connect function is part of the mysqli extension in PHP. This extension is built into PHP and does not need to be separately installed.
