A Genesis starter child theme that applies Bootstrap grid CSS classes to the Genesis HTML markup through custom filters and actions. The theme filters the Genesis CSS classes to apply the Bootstrap container
row
and column grid
classes.
Those modifications are done in lib/bootstrap/bootstrap-markup.php.
Don't edit this file to apply your changes. Instead, hook into the actions and filters that are provided by Movelize or Genesis.
For example to change the container class to container-fluid
you can place this code into your theme's functions.php:
add_filter( 'mov_container_class', 'child_container_class' );
function child_container_class() {
return 'container-fluid';
}
Movelize comes with basic CSS styling as a starting point to apply your own settings. Those settings are defined in lib/assets/theme.css and contain - among others:
- Form elements and pagination styling that apply Bootstrap CSS to Genesis classes
- Truly responsive gallery styling with proper "line breaks" after items with long captions
- Basic styles for navigation, WordPress classes, widgets, comments, ...
Don't edit theme.css to apply your own CSS but use the empty style.css instead.
- mmenu mobile navigation (http://mmenu.frebsite.nl)
- Elegant Icon Font (https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/resources/elegant-icon-font)
When new Movelize versions are committed, simply upload the lib folder to your child theme.
I implemented Bootstrap into 2 client projects that I developed as custom Genesis child themes - http://www.kemke-altmetallankauf.de and http://rohwedder-landingpage.mohanty-gmbh.de. Then I extended the code with hooks, optimized the basic CSS and after extensive testing I released it now as my first Github project.
