This is Very Sleepy, a polling Windows CPU profiler with a wxWidgets-based GUI.

You can download an installer on the project's website, or from the GitHub releases page.

Prerequisites:

• Visual C++ 2010 (or compatible, e.g. 2012)
• wxWidgets 2.9.5
  • Versions other than 2.9.5 might work, but may have compatibility issues.

After building wxWidgets (see below), you can build Sleepy using the project files (with the Visual Studio IDE or msbuild).

Run one of the Microsoft batch files to set up the Visual Studio environment:

Now, from the wxWidgets build\msw directory:

nmake -f makefile.vc BUILD=debug SHARED=0 RUNTIME_LIBS=static

NMAKE is part of Visual Studio, so vcvars should have added it to your path.

Options:

• For a release build, use BUILD=release instead.
• For 64-bit, add TARGET_CPU=AMD64.
• You could also use the Visual Studio project/solution files to build wxWidgets, however (as of 2.9.5) these are Win32-only.

Finally, create an environment variable called WXWIN, and set it to the full path towards the wxWidgets directory (incl. trailing backslash). This variable in referenced in Sleepy's project files - Visual Studio must have in in its environment to be able to find wxWidgets.

To build the Wine version of DbgHelp (dbghelpw.dll and dbghelpw_wow64.dll), you need to have the Wine submodule (located in src/dbghelpw/wine). To do that, clone this repository with the --recursive flag, or, after cloning, run git submodule init and git submodule update. Once cloned, build the DbgHelp solution located in src/dbghelpw/wine/dlls/dbghelp/vs.

If you do not want to build Wine DbgHelp from source, you can place dbghelpw.dll and dbghelpw_wow64.dll from a recent binary release of Very Sleepy into the dbghelp_x86 and dbghelp_x64 directories appropriately.

The dbghelpdr.dll file is part of the Dr. MinGW project. See that project's BUILD.md for an overview of the build instructions. For Very Sleepy, you will need both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version, which you can build with e.g. these 32-bit and 64-bit MinGW releases and this batch file.

If you do not want to build Dr. MinGW's DbgHelp from source, you can place dbghelpdr.dll from a recent binary release of Very Sleepy (or Dr. MinGW, where it will be called mgwhelp.dll) into the dbghelp_x86 and dbghelp_x64 directories appropriately.
